Features Of Linen
All the advantages of natural fabric are due to its technical characteristics. Good air permeability and hygroscopicity of flax allows the skin to breathe and feel comfortable even after a whole day spent in linen clothes. Antiseptic properties make the material a preventive agent against fungus and other pathogens.
Bacteriological properties: silica is part of the fibers, which prevents the development of bacteria. Flax is an antistatic material, which means it does not electrify. Hypoallergenic property caused the use of linen fabrics for sewing underwear and bedding, as well as children's clothing. Moreover, flax does not lose its properties over time.
A natural feature of flax is its ability to crush. It is worth noting that dense fabrics (curtains, bedspreads) gnaw slightly less than clothes. Although today the natural structure of flax with its creases is a trend in the fashion industry. Some people love flax just for its natural and not ideal structure!
It is believed that flax is prone to shrinkage. It should be taken into account: fabrics for sewing are pre-treated, after which shrinkage with proper care is impossible.
Linen fabrics are subjected to a special treatment, which adds elasticity to the fibers and allows the product not to shrink. For the same purpose, synthetic fibres shall be added to the flax fibre during manufacture. The probability of shrinkage of finished products is very small, because before production, usually the material is specially washed and dried, after which it does not shrink again. Linen from our store is previously decatised and ready for sewing.
How to wash linen clothes?
With proper care linen products will serve you for years. It is enough just to follow a few simple rules:
- Use detergents that increase the alkalinity of water, with reduced foam formation.
- Flax washing at a temperature of 40 to 90 degrees. Linen things are best washed separately from other things.
- Do not twist or squeeze clothes tightly when spinning (applies to hand washing).
- It is necessary to dry the flax in natural conditions, but direct sunlight should be avoided (fusing the fabric).
- Iron lightly wet in "Linen" mode.
